|If you are a sinner, and are honest enough to admit you are lost, I have good news. You can be saved!
This means God will forgive every sin you have committed. You will have peace now and a home in heaven when you leave this world. The Lord Jesus is the only One who can save you. He said, "...I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father but me." (John 14 vs. 6) Peter agreed by saying "Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4 vs. 12)
You cannot save yourself. Salvation cannot be earned by good works, nor bought with money. Paul emphatically states "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us..." (Titus 3 vs. 5) Peter said "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold..." (1 Peter 1 vs. 18)
The Lord Jesus has already paid the price for your salvation. He became your substitute by accepting your guilt and dying in your stead. Paul said, "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly." (Romans 5 vs. 6) "...God commendeth his love towards, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5 vs. 8)
|Salvation is a gift. It is received through faith - that is, by believing. If you believe that God has accepted His Son's death as payment for your sins, you only need to receive Him as your Savior, by personally accepting what He did for you on the cross. Invite the Lord Jesus into your heart now! John said "...as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, ..." (John 1 vs. 12) Again the Lord Jesus said, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3 vs. 20)
Once you have taken this step, you should begin immediately to share the good news with your friends. Tell them that Jesus is now your Lord and Savior. Testify to others of what God has done for you. Paul said "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10 vs. 10) John tells us that God's people overcame satan "... ...by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony." (Revelation 12 vs. 11)
Begin reading the Bible. The Gospel of St. John is a wonderful place to start. We recommend that you read a chapter a day. Remember this - what Christ said to the people of His day He is saying to us now! What you read on the sacred page is God's word to you. Be quick to believe and obey. Luke said the people in the city of Berea were "noble" because they"... ...searched the scriptures daily..." (Acts 17 vs 11) Peter tells us "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby." (Peter 2 vs. 2)
We encourage you to find a Bible believing church where the way of salvation is preached. Begin attending the services. If you have received Christ as your Savior, tell the Pastor. Ask to be baptized. Luke records that"...they that gladly received His word were baptized..." (Acts 2 vs. 41) and that Peter "...commanded (the believers) to be baptized in the name of the Lord." (Acts 10 vs. 48)
